Design Language
Nestled within the heritage-listed Griffin Conservation Area, this residence respectfully interprets Walter Burley Griffin's original urban planning vision. The design celebrates the unique topography through terraced levels that follow the natural contours, while large windows frame curated views of the surrounding bushland. Local sandstone and timber cladding create a dialogue with the landscape, and the home's orientation maximizes natural light while maintaining privacy from neighboring properties.

Project Outcome
Castlecrag Homes 1 demonstrates how contemporary luxury can be achieved while respecting heritage constraints and environmental sensitivity. The project successfully navigated complex planning approvals within the Griffin Conservation Area, setting a precedent for future developments in the precinct. The home's integration with the natural landscape has been recognized by the Australian Institute of Architects, and the sustainable design features have resulted in minimal ongoing energy costs. The attention to detail in the interior fit-out and landscaping has created a residence that feels both timeless and thoroughly modern.
